Thirty Ought Six (30.06) cranks out beautiful punk ballads that I want to
wake up to every morning. They recently put out a full length record with
Candy Ass Records in Portland. Candy Ass is a small label run by Jody Bleyle
(from the band Hazel) and a couple of her friends. I highly recommend you
write to them to find out about more about their stuff. Candy Ass, P.O. Box
42382, Portland, OR 97202. (Hey, send a 29c stamp too. - Be like Wilford
Brimley! "It's the right thing to do.")

JAWBREAKER news:
Blake, Adam, and Chris are back in San Francisco & Oakland after their 4th
U.S. tour. Not much to report really. They're pretty much taking it easy for
the summer.
- Actually, the other day they got a call from a booking agent asking if they
wanted to go out on the road with Jawbox for 10 dates across the U.S. in
July. They're not sure yet whether they're going to do it. If anyone wants to
send in their vote as to whether Jawbreaker should say yes or no, e-mail us
and we'll send the results to Adam.

ZINE corner:
Scott Rutherford at the zine Speed Kills in Chicago sent Fred and I a really
great letter the other day addressing a very important issue. As we all know
a lot of great bands have gone over to major labels. The problem is that
Scott and a lot of the rest of us have some good friends in some of these
bands. The painful decision whether or not to deny ad space to these bands is
weighing heavily on Scott's mind. He wrote, "I've tossed and turned about the
whole issue, and finally accepted the notion that I wasn't gonna deny ad
space to those bands I truly like. Drive Like Jehu. Unrest. Rocket. But,
majors will have to pay double. Seems like a standard zine thing to do. I'm
fully prepared to say no to those labels and/or bands I wouldn't have dinner
with. But, how do I weigh justice?" More and more zine writers will be
facing this dilemna.
---------------------------------------------
SPAVID from Buffalo starts their tour on Wednesday, June 8th in Albany, NY.
59 days and hundreds of miles later they will finish in Pittsburgh, PA on
August 4th with Don Caballero. Full tour dates and venues coming soon. Their
7" on Simple Machines should be released in a few weeks.
